Scholarships are a form of financial aid which, unlike loans, do not require repayment. They come in several varieties: merit-based, endowed, need-based, and outside agency.
If you are interested in being considered for scholarships please apply by our December 1 Early Action deadline and submit the essay with your application.
Old Dominion University awarded $10.7 million in scholarships this past year.
Types of Scholarships
Merit-based
Scholarships awarded from your academic performance. To be competititive you should have at least a 3.4 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) as well as a 1200 SAT (best combined Math and Critical Reading) and/or 26 ACT.
Merit-based scholarships are also available for transfer students and students with an associate degree entering in the fall semester.

Endowed
Private donors offer these scholarships through the university and establish criteria for selecting recipients.
Need-based
Offered in the form of a grant which is based on your financial need. Make sure to fill out the FAFSA to be considered.
All students should submit a FAFSA. You never know what scholarships could be sent your way.
Outside agency
